David Cannon has been with Getty Images for 31 years, moving over from Allsport, which Getty Images acquired in 1998.
In that time he has covered 100 men’s Major Golf Tournaments, including 33 Open Championships and 31 Masters Tournaments. In addition, he has covered over 50 women’s’ Majors, 15 Ryder Cups, 15 Walker Cups, all 12 Solheim Cup Matches (the women’s equivalent of the Ryder Cup) and over 600 other golf tournaments around the globe.
David is a keen golfer himself and played as a scratch player in the major amateur events in Great Britain and Ireland in the mid seventies alongside the likes of Sandy Lyle, Mark James and Sir Nick Faldo. David has now played over 700 courses worldwide and has visited over 1000 courses during his career.
In the past 10 years, David has published two major coffee table photographic books on Golf Courses – ‘Fairways of the World’ and ‘Fairways of Great Britain and Ireland’ – and has worked as the principal photographer on golf instruction books with Severiano Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, Ernie Els, David Leadbetter, and Ian Woosnam.
In addition to this, David has photographed seven FIFA World Cup events and six Olympic Games.
Since 2013, David Cannon been a Global Ambassador for Glenmorangie as ‘The Spirit of The Open,’ alongside Sir Nick Faldo, Robert Trent-Jones Jnr, and Tony Jacklin. His work with Glenmorangie has seen him nominate the world’s most extraordinarily well-made golf courses and holes.
