Kristine Pregot is a NYC-based Post-Production Supervisor who freelances with production companies to help them turn concepts, scripts and shot scenes into finalized sitcoms and comedy shows ready for TV. We caught up with Kristine about her work freelancing with large and small production companies to find out why she lobbies for a Getty Images account to ensure her productions are a success.

How do you use Getty Images content for your work on television shows?

Kristine Pregot: I work on a lot of comedy-oriented shows, with tons of sketches, parodies and spoofs, so we always need video footage from strange places. Recently we needed video from inside a prison, for example, for a spoof PSA – and you guys had the perfect clip. We just recorded some voice-over to lay over the footage, and we were done. Getty Images saves us having to send out a production crew, book a space, hire actors and all that. That stuff really adds up, financially and time-wise. Using your clips is easy and relatively very inexpensive.

So you often need niche or uncommon kinds of video clips?

KP: Right – and just finding and downloading instantly from Getty Images saves us having to send out a production crew, book a space, hire actors and all that. That stuff really adds up, financially and time-wise. Using your clips is easy and saves us money.

As a freelancer, how is it that you always end up working with Getty Images?

KP: If a production company doesn’t have a contract with Getty, I try to explain the value of a library as diverse and good as yours. You inevitably have what we need. The editorial content is so good, the video selection is so huge, and the creative is just the best. Plus the search engine is so easy to work with – quick to learn and very easy to master. So even if it costs a little more than some of the other content we could get, it’s worth it. I almost always get to work with Getty Images – and I usually end up negotiating the contract!

Do you have a favorite search feature?

KP: I love the “See Similar Images” tool, because it can take you down an unexpected, good path for your project – one you hadn’t thought of. I also love that I can type in a word for a mood or a feeling, and your algorithm is so smart that I always get interesting results.

So you choose Getty Images again and again for the quality, the cost-savings and the ease of search?

KP: Not only that – your customer service is the best. I can reach out to our rep and get a call back within an hour, always. That is a huge benefit when you’re working under a time crunch, which we always are.
